Holiday’s with the In-Laws
Posted on December 14th, 2011 by LaDawn
As if the Holiday’s weren’t hectic enough, now that you are engaged and soon to be married you have to add your in-laws to the equation!
Here are 4 of my Chic Tips to having a “Balanced” Holiday Season:
- **Don’t Try and Do Everything - ** You just got engaged, it’s the holiday’s you work full time, it’s cold outside and there is tons of traffic everywhere you go. Stop stressing and stop saying yes to everything. Don’t try and do everything this season. Planning your wedding should be your priority!
- **Just the Two of Us -** Spend alone time with your spouse, even if it means skipping a dinner with the family. This can be a time to remove yourself from the stresses of family and talk quietly with your spouse. Get out of the house for a few hours by yourselves or with your fiance.
- **Draw Names for Gift Giving -** Trying to buy a gift for everyone can get expensive. Pull names, or just agree on a dollar amount to spend on everyone. My favorite (what we do in our family) just buy gifts for all the kids under 18 years old!
- **Have an Escape Plan -** If there is tension in the family or things just aren’t going well, have a pre-planned escape. A way to exit gracefully.
Families and the Holiday’s will always require balance. During this season just try and keep the lines of communication open and don’t loose site of your excitement for your upcoming wedding and marriage! You have time to work out the kinks!
