Tip # 1: Using recycled paper is extremely eco-friendly for all of your paper needs, from the engagement party invitations to the wedding invitations. Recycled paper is becoming more available and now comes in many different prints, textures and colors. Feel good about saving a few trees while still having stylish invitations.
Tip# 2: Making the venue of your wedding all at one location will allow guests to use less gasoline, preventing air pollution, not to mention it is more convenient for everyone involved in your big day! Also opt for an open-air venue in the afternoon, where you can rely mostly on natural light!
Tip# 3: Flowers for your wedding day are always a beautiful choice, and choosing locally grown or organically grown flowers will help support local farmers. There are no pesticides or chemicals on organic flowers, which also helps reduce air pollution. For centerpieces, use a little potted plant or flower and allow guests to take them home to replant at the end of the night. Use candles that are made from products that are natural, such as soybean wax or beeswax.
Tip# 4: Give your guests something else to remember you by as they leave your wedding with an eco-friendly wedding favor. A little packet of seeds of the bride and grooms favorite flower or plant, will allow the guests to go home and plant their own beautiful garden in remembrance of your special day. A great edible option for a wedding favor would be jars of jam or honey sold at a local farmers markets!
Tip# 5: At the end of the night when there is food left over, ask the caterer to donate it to a local homeless shelter so nothing goes to waste and you are helping someone in need. Having an eco-chic wedding is one that everyone can appreciate and you will feel satisfied knowing you helped keep the earth clean on your special day.
