Wedding Recaps and Rewinds

I’m back!!!! So sorry for the lapse in time but I’ve been so busy these last couple months. I’m waist deep in event planning season, everyone is getting married and having fabulous receptions…the weather is warm and love is in the air so, where do I begin?

I will begin with sharing some of my most memorable moments. It’s been a busy, busy summer; obviously I haven’t posted since May.

I have so much to say but instead of giving you a play by play I’m just going to give you a few Rewinds and Recaps….. more to come!

Sybelle and Rudy are a great couple. They were actually already married so this was the fun celebration with family and friends with a renewal of vows! The theme was Retro-Vintage with a splash of Hawaiian to celebrate the bride’s heritage. The Ceremony took place on the Fairgrounds In-Field (they were the first in history to have a wedding in this location). The ceremony had the Hawaiian them including a traditional Hawaiian welcome. Guest entered the ceremony through a long underground tunnel and exited through that same tunnel greeted by the Charter Oaks High School Marching band (the bride and grooms former high school) and walked the bride, groom and their entire guest to the cocktail hour at the Avalon. They even hired an onsite day care company that was in a separate room to take care of the guests children’s while they enjoyed the party. The Reception was completely a mix of Retro/Vintage with ever table mirrored with feathers and black and white décor/linens. They had a real vintage photo booth, each table was a Johnny Cash song title and the guest dined on steak and lobster with a fun retro cake for desert. To top the evening off, Hot Dog on a Stick truck came at 11p and served all the guest corn dogs and lemonade.

Raven & Jerome – This is what I call my Diva Bling Wedding. This wedding was all about the Glitz and the Glam. The ceremony was at Kimberly Crest & Gardens. The Reception was at the Coco Palm. This was a fun and fabulous wedding!

Angela & Christon – Let’s get married on the 4th of July!! I was so excited to do this wedding. It was on Sunday the 4thof July, but they didn’t do a silly theme, no Red, White and Blue. Instead Bold Fuchsia, Black and Bling!! Angie and Chris are the sweetest couple and the MOB, and FOB felt like my mom and dad. I LOVE this family.

Fall in LOVE with Indy!

This year, the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) hosted their annual conference in Indianapolis, Indiana and I was there!! This was my first conference since becoming a member 3 years ago and I really enjoyed myself. It was a whirlwind and it all seemed to go by so quickly, but here are some of the most exciting parts.

Day one I checked into the Hyatt Regency in downtown Indianapolis and attended a meeting on “How to Market and Position your Business to Mainstream Media,” by Editor in Chief of Get Married Magazine, Stephanie Davis. Later that evening they hosted the opening reception titled “Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend.” Day two Frank Andonoplas, MBC - Frank’s Event Design, Chicago, IL was one of the key note speakers and gave us all inspiration to be better planners. We had a great lunch with a “Fashionista” theme and L. Gene Huddleson from Detail+Design Indianapolis In.  went over 5 different priced tablescapes, and how you can make a beautiful table with any budget, it was amazing. The last day topped it all off with Ciara Daykin of Firefly Occasions and Rockstar Wedding Planner speaking at our luncheon, Peggy Post giving us all updates on Wedding Etiquette and closing out the convention was Sylivia Weinstock! She is an amazing and extremely talented lady.

Next year’s conference will be in Phoenix Az., closer to home so I will be attending! Check out some pictures below and for more pictures become a Fan of Platinum Lining Events on Facebook!

Staci and Gary were an awesome couple. I am so glad PLE got the opportunity to help plan their wedding. Although I didn’t get great pictures their wedding was fabulous. The pictures don’t do justice but they used great vendors such as Irises Designs, Moon Dust DJ. They had their wedding at First United Methodist Church in Ontario and the reception was at Crestmore Manor in Riverside. They had a very cool photo booth that could hold at least 10-15 people at one time. Open bar with Michelle the bartender from Rhythem Ent. she was the Best bar tender I have ever used.  All of this for under 20K! So cheers to the Sunshine-Bright wedding - you gotta love the last names. Staci is going from Sunshine to Bright!!!!!!!!!! Great Couple.

Monique & Yahmin 11-8-08

This was a beautiful wedding that we planned for Monique and Yahmin. They were married on Nov. 8, 2008 at the St. Philips Episcopal Church in Los Angeles and then the 150+ guest reception was held at the beautifully remolded Universal Sheraton in the Roof Top Garden room. Their 5 tier cake was so beautiful in the room against all the windows that overlooked the city.  Their guest enjoyed a wonderful 3 course meal and a chocolate fountain full of treats for dessert. This wedding was planned for over a year with the Bride and groom living in separate states for the majority of the planning this was definitely the type of wedding that a coordinator is a must have. Larsen/Baker Wedding 10-4-08

Wow, this was a great wedding to coordinate and I had such a great time with the entire family. There were so many details to keep track of, items to prioritize, vendors to book and family traditions to preserve.  Here is the story of my most recent wedding event: When Amy Larsen and Derek Baker discussed “something old” for their October wedding, the choice was obvious - The Maclin family compound, known around the world as Maclin’s Open Air Market. While a location known for antiques, livestock auctions and swap meet bargains seems to be an unusual background for exchanging wedding vows, the young couple actually honors an earlier family marriage that took place in July 1932.

Amy’s great grandparents were married 76 years ago in the living room of one of the homes that remains on the compound. While many traditions were followed, many things were fresh and new in this wedding. The guest list was over 150, they enjoyed a four-course dinner provided under a 3,000 square foot tent by Gourmet Gourmet Catering, custom designed cake from Sweet Art Cakes, amazing lighting effects and a fun interactive DJ from The D’Jay Company and amazing pictures by Joseph’s Photographic Design (see below).  We had a light drizzle all day but everything went just as planned and it even stopped raining for the outdoor ceremony.

In today’s tight economy many brides may think one item to cut from their budget could be a coordinator, but it may end up costing you more in the long run if you don’t hire a coordinator. I can say I used all my experience and connections for this wedding and we came in under the original budgeted amount and it couldn’t have been more beautiful!
